All around the globe, millions of people uses renewable source of energy, that is sun energy, for heating purposes. The solar energy was there from always, but the commercial use has been accepted in the past few decades. The solar heating systems work on a simple technique- water is pumped in solar panels and water gets heated while passing these panels. This heated water is then stored in the collectors or tanks. The water can remain hot for almost long 24 hours. It is false impression that the solar heaters can work only on the sunny day, the heaters are workable as long as sun rises, irrespective of whether the climate is sunny or there are clouds in the sky. The life of a solar heater is almost 20 years, rest depend on the maintenance of the system. The main thing while buying a solar heater is a complete homework. Standalone: these are the systems which are setup at the ground level. The name standalone is given as these are mounted away for the houses. Good solar energy collectors have copper plate called absorber, coated with black chrome and have good installation around the back and sides. Avoid using plastic, wood or spot welding, as these is steering away from solar powered pumps. An average home with a family of four will require about 4sq meters of collectors and a storage cylinder of almost one hundred eighty litre. Solar hot water heaters may increase the value of your home and provide you with many tax rebates, as many governments are giving tax discounts to the people using solar energy to motivate more and more for using this renewable source of energy. An added bonus: solar panels can help preventing your roof by protecting it from ultraviolet rays and weather, thus extending its life.
