"A laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of photons. The term laser originated as an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The emitted laser light is notable for its high degree of spatial and temporal coherence, unattainable using other technologies. Laser beams can be focused to very tiny spots, achieving a very high irradiance. Or they can be launched into a beam of very low divergence in order to concentrate their power at a large distance. Laser output can be continuous or pulsed and is used in a myriad of applications. Gas lasers are used to cut steel and perform delicate eye surgery, while solid state lasers create the ultra-high-speed, minuscule pulses traveling in optical fibers traversing the backbones of all major communications networks. Light traveling in an optical fiber is impervious to external interference, a constant problem with electrical pulses in copper wire. Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser to cut materials, and is typically used for industrial manufacturing applications. Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high-power laser, by computer, at the material to be cut. The material then melts, burns, vaporizes away, or is blown away by a jet of gas leaving an edge with a high-quality surface finish. Industrial laser cutters are used to cut flat-sheet material as well as structural and piping materials. Cutting requires that the laser beam is focused by a lens to a small focus spot, typically in the 25-100µm diameter range for fine cutting and 100um to 300µm range for thicker section cutting. Coaxial gas is delivered just above laser focus by a nozzle that surrounds the converging laser beam to keep the optics clean and improve the cutting process by pushing the vaporized and liquefied material out through the kerfs. Gases such as oxygen and air are used to promote cutting of ferrous alloys and cellulose materials. Air is often used with plastics and fabrics. High-pressure inert gas is used when cutting some metals to leave an un-oxidized edge with little dross. Laser marking is permanent and indelible marking process, which stands against wiping, scuffing, impacts, wear and tear, can only be removed by grinding or surface removal. Thus laser - marking sustains authenticity of your brand against sort of tempering. The technique does not involve the use of inks, nor does it involve tool bits which contact the engraving surface and wear out. These properties distinguish laser engraving from alternative engraving or marking technologies where bit heads have to be replaced regularly or inks have to be used. These include laser-sensitive polymers and novel metal alloys. The term laser marking is also used as a generic term covering a broad spectrum of surfacing techniques including printing, hot-branding and laser bonding. Pad printing is a printing process that can transfer a 2-D image onto a 3-D object. This is accomplished using an indirect offset printing process that involves an image being transferred from the printing plate via a silicone pad onto a substrate. Pad printing is used for printing on otherwise impossible products in many industries including medical, automotive, promotional, apparel, electronics, appliances, sports equipment and toys.
